Mestre Pantera

Mestre Pantera (Carlos Alberto Moreira da Silva) is the founder of ACDP (Associação de Capoeira Descendente do Pantera). Mestre Pantera was taught by Mestre Poeira (Jorge Francisco Ferreira), who had the group “Grupo Pantera” — created as a tribute to The Black Panther Party, which had a strong influence in the resistance movements during the dictatorship in Brazil — and gave the nickname “Pantera” to him, the leader of that group. In 1973, Mestre Pantera founded ACDP as a need to create an association, which would make him eligible to participate in the championships organised by the Boxing Federation of Rio de Janeiro. In 1991, Mestre Pantera moved to Madrid (Spain) and started teaching Capoeira — as one of the first Capoeira teachers in Spain. Mestre Pantera has been teaching Capoeira to adults and kids in Madrid since then. Two of the students who started with him in the late 90s are: Contramestre Camaleão and Formado Ponta de Faca.

We had the absolute pleasure to have Formado Ponta de Faca with us! Formado Ponta de Faca is from the same generation of students of Contramestre Camaleão, and he is one of the most experienced students that supports Mestre Pantera in Madrid, Spain.

My name is Roberto García Garnacho, known in the world of Capoeira as Formado Ponta de Faca. I was born in Madrid (Spain) on 3rd November 1980. I discovered Capoeira through a friend who practised it (whose nickname was Dizesete, 17), who invited me to try it out. I knew absolutely nothing about this art form, apart from Eddy from the video game Tekken, like many people from my generation. That was 24 years ago (back in 2001). I started practising Capoeira in Leganés (Madrid, Spain), and my journey in Capoeira has always been connected to the ACDP group, always as a student of Mestre Pantera, following him through different gymss in Madrid and attending events in Europe and Brazil. In 2014, due to personal reasons, I had to take a break from practising Capoeira, which lasted around five years. I returned in 2019, and in August 2020, I received the ´cordel azul´ (Aluno Formado), and in 2025 I received the ´cordel azul com pontas verde e amarela’ I wear today as Estagiário a Contramestre.
